On Monday, October 12, 2026, the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and deputies executed a search warrant at a residence on South Bead Street in Alma as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.
Earlier that day, Cleavanta Jerrideau, 34, of Alma, was stopped by officers with the Broxton Police Department for a traffic violation. During the stop, officers discovered approximately 13 pounds of methamphetamine inside his vehicle. Jerrideau was taken into custody by Broxton Police Department officers.
During the execution of the search warrant on South Bead Street, Bacon County deputies recovered: 9.75 ounces of methamphetamine, 21 grams of cocaine, 17.5 pounds of marijuana, one handgun, drug-related objects and packaging materials, and $25,490 in cash.
Sheriff Andy Batten extends his appreciation to Broxton Police Chief Austin Medders and the Broxton Police Department for their proactive actions during the traffic stop. What began as a routine traffic stop ultimately led to the discovery of a significant quantity of illegal narcotics.
“Through the actions of the Broxton Police Department and the continued efforts of our investigators and deputies, we were able to remove a substantial amount of illegal drugs from our community,” Sheriff Batten said. “I also want to commend our Bacon County Narcotics Unit and deputies for their hard work and dedication throughout this investigation.”
