Mrs. Carolyn Delane Driggers Newman, age 75, of Waycross, Georgia, passed away Monday morning, June 15, 2026, at Memorial Health Satilla in Waycross, Georgia following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Newman was born August 8, 1950, in Waycross, Georgia, to the late Carlton Edward Driggers and the late Elizabeth McClelland Carter. She was a fulltime housewife who enjoyed making a home for her husband, the late Roy Lee Newman, Sr., and their children. She was of the Baptist faith. Along with her husband and parents, Mrs. Newman was preceded in death by two stepchildren: Roy Lee Newman, Jr. and Lee Ann Newman; and two grandchildren: Delana Marie Lott and Ryan Austin Story.
Mrs. Newman leaves behind two daughters: Marsha Lott and husband, Robert, of Waycross, Georgia, and Brenda Sue Stubbs and husband, Glen, of Douglas, Georgia; a son, James Newman of Douglas, Georgia; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two brothers: Demory McBee of Melbourne, Florida, Jesse McBee of Blackshear, Georgia; a sister, Debra Rowell of Waycross, Georgia; and two bonus children: Elisha Burch and wife, Sheryl, and Carol Stokes husband George; along with a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A memorial service will be held to honor Mrs. Newman on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Casey Wright officiating. Her family will receive friends in the chapel beginning at 1:00 PM for one hour prior to the service.
