Mrs. Carolyn Sue Douglas Holton, age 87, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 2, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Holton was born April 29, 1939, in Pearson, Georgia, to the late Duncan Allen Douglas and the late Genell Carter Douglas. She was a devoted wife to her late husband Robert Vonna Holton. She loved people and made her career as a caregiver at Baptist Village in Waycross, Georgia. She was an active member of Morningside Baptist Church. While in attendance she would greet and talk with everyone that came to the church. She found great joy in gardening and growing flowers, as well as cooking, but her greatest joy was in time spent with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Along with her husband and parents, Mrs. Holton was preceded in death by two children: Tami Sue Holton Bell and Wendie Glynn McConnell; a grandchild, Laken Sharee Holton; and five siblings: Fred Douglas, Sarah Ogden, Hilda Hastings, Laura Meade, and Liz Thrift.
Mrs. Holton leaves a legacy of devoted family members including her two children: Robert “Andy” Holton (Sherryl) of Douglas, Georgia, and Renee Holton of Douglas, Georgia; two sons-in-law: David Bell of Patterson, Georgia, and Charles McConnell of Augusta, Georgia; a number of grandchildren and a multitude of great-grandchildren; two siblings: Duncan Allen Douglas of Baxley, Georgia, and Lois Marie Chapman of Ashburn, Georgia; a brother-in-law, Steve Chapman of Ashburn, Georgia; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Mrs. Holton’s funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, July 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Chip Woodruff officiating. Interment will follow in Stokesville Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the funeral beginning at 10:00 AM.
Active pallbearers will include Bobby Holton, John Tyler Holton, Anthony DePratter, Eric DePratter, Kolby DePratter, Wren DePratter, Jacob Holton, and Lancelot Holton.
