Mattie Lewis homered, Allie Veal had three hits, and Shanley Meeks struck out three in the CCA Lady Patriots’ 7-3 win over the Robert Toombs Crusaders Thursday night at Patriot Field in CCA’s penultimate regular season game.
The Lady Patriots built a 7-0 lead through six innings, scoring two in the second, three in the third, and two in the sixth. The Crusaders made a little noise with a three-spot in the seventh but that’s all they could muster.
Lewis’s home run, a solo shot, came in the third inning.
Veal was 3-4 and scored three runs. One of her hits was a double. Emma Gourley also doubled. Brilynn Waldron had two hits and an RBI, one of which was a triple. Lily Waldron and Arabelle Roberts drove in two.
Meeks scattered five hits across seven innings, giving up three unearned runs while striking out three and walking one.
The Lady Patriots are 21-4 this year and 9-0 in region play with one game remaining, a Tuesday tilt against Crisp Academy in Cordele.
