Things returned to normal for the CCA Lady Patriots on Tuesday afternoon at Patriot Field in Douglas. After a tough loss to GHSA 5A power Wayne County on Monday, CCA welcomed region foe Robert Toombs Academy to Douglas and won 12-0 in four innings.
The Lady Patriots scored a run in the first, four in the second, five in the third, and two in the fourth to win the run-rule shortened game. Brilynn Waldron led the way offensively with a 3-4, four-run, two-RBI day. Peighton Harper threw a complete-game two-hit shutout, striking out three and walking one.
Lily Waldron was 2-3 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. Arabelle Roberts was 2-2 with two runs. Mattie Lewis doubled as well.
In the bottom of the fourth, Roberts led off with a single to center. Brilynn Waldron reached on an infield single, which scored Roberts to give CCA an 11-0 lead. The Lady Patriots only needed one more run to invoke the mercy rule. They got that run when Madi Rucker drove the ball to left, which scored Brilynn Waldron for the final run of the game.
CCA is 14-4 overall and 2-0 in region play. The Lady Patriots have the rest of the week off before hosting First Preparatory Christian Academy Monday at 6 p.m. They travel to First Preparatory Tuesday then face Vidalia Heritage in Vidalia on Thursday.
