Gray McLean homered and Blake Bryant threw five dominant innings in the CCA Patriots’ 10-0 six-inning win over the Pinewood Christian Academy Patriots in Douglas.
CCA scored four in the second and three each in the fifth and sixth. Bryant allowed two hits while striking out 10 and walking none. Thomas Gentry threw the sixth inning in relief.
In the second, Mason Spivey lined out to center with runners on second and third. Landon Williams, who had been hit by a pitch earlier in the inning, was on third and tagged for the first run of the game. Jonah Hall followed with a single, driving in Clay Phillips. Then McLean homered on a two-strike pitch to stake a 4-0 CCA lead.
That was all CCA would need but they added six more runs late in the game for good measure. McLean drove in three. Thomas Gentry was 2-3 with a run.
CCA is 4-0 this season. They take the field next on Monday at Patriot Field against First Preparatory Christian Academy at 6 p.m.
