Students from Coffee High School showcased their engineering skills and teamwork at a recent VEX Robotics Tournament, bringing home two championship trophies in a highly competitive field of teams from across the state.
The team earned top honors in Sportsmanship and were tournament finalists, edged out by a team from Newton County who is ranked high in the world. These awards recognize excellence in robot design, programming, strategy, and collaboration.
“Our students put in countless hours of design, testing, and teamwork,” said Jerry Hill, VEX Robotics coach at Coffee High. “Winning two trophies is a testament to their dedication and their ability to apply real-world engineering concepts under pressure.”
VEX Robotics competitions are part of a global program that encourages students to develop STEM skills through hands-on learning, teamwork, and innovation. Teams compete in fast-paced matches while also being evaluated on design process, documentation, and sportsmanship.
With this successful showing, the Coffee Team of 1253B VEX Robotics team was given an invitation to the Georgia State VEX robotics tournament in February and will continue to build on their momentum for the rest of the season.
The Coffee Robotics team has one more tournament in January at the Vikings Clash at Lowndes High School in Valdosta.
