At the last city commission meeting of the year, commissioners voted to close a city street for most of next year.
A new apartment complex is being built along Andrew Street between North Daughtry Avenue and North Wheeler Avenue. The property has been cleared and trucks are bringing in dirt as work crews prep the site. Construction on the 48-unit complex will begin in early 2026.
Andrew Street is a lightly traveled street, especially between Wheeler and Daughtry. The road is being closed so construction materials can be placed on the road. The commission did the same thing when Heritage Point, an apartment complex on the north side of Andrew Street, was being built several years ago.
Commissioners approved the request. The road will remain closed from January until October.
