Coffee County has been a Republican stronghold for many years. Even as Georgia has moved in a more Democratic direction, Coffee County voters refused to give in and have toed the Republican line.
Local voters didn’t waver in Tuesday’s midterm election. But the rest of the state did.
Republican candidates fared well locally but not so much statewide. Democrats ran roughshod through elections at all levels, creating a seismic shift in Georgia’s politics and, presumably, policy.
