CSX Transportation has recently announced a large-scale track maintenance project set to begin on Monday, April 20, 2026. This project will include various types of specialized track maintenance along parts of the CSX Fitzgerald subdivision. There is a total of six teams that will be working in various areas and all arriving to perform the different phases of their work on various weeks throughout the months of April, May, and June.
It will be an overall 10-week project that begins on 4/20/26 and ends on or around 6/26/26 and will impact a portion of Coffee County. The following railroad crossings are expected to close on or around the week of June 7, 2026 in Douglas and Coffee County: S. Pearl Avenue, S. Gaskin Avenue, S. McDonald Avenue, Vickers Crossing, Golden Pond Rd. and a private crossing.
The estimated closure time frames are the best approximation that is provided at this time By CSX contractors. These dates are highly subject to change with or without notice simply due to many of the unforeseen circumstances that can occur in the field once the work begins. If updates to the schedule are provided by CSX, those dates will be shared with the community
This information is being provided early so that preparations can begin as soon as possible for travelers to make alternate routes to avoid the closed railroad crossing during the week of June 7, 2026.
