A deputy stopped a vehicle in the early morning hours of July 4, 2026, on West Green Road and found a small amount of marijuana and a handgun in the vehicle. The driver, identified as Eric Jaron Parker, 36, of Jacksonville, Fla., was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The report says that at 1:15 a.m. on July 4, a deputy saw a Nissan SUV with a Florida license plate in front of him. The report also states that the deputy could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle.
The officer stopped the Nissan on West Green Road. Parker was driving and there were two passengers in the vehicle. Parker told the officer there was a gun in the center console. The officer found the gun and a small amount of suspected marijuana.
The deputy ran Parker’s criminal history and saw that he was a convicted felon. Parker was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and booked into the Coffee County Jail. He remains incarcerated.
