Douglas Rotary Club was honored to induct Douglas Police Chief Brannen Pruette as the newest Rotarian at its July 30, 2026, meeting. Chief Pruette was nominated by City Commissioner Steve Bailey, a proud Rotarian since 2009. The Chief shared comments about the Douglas Police Department’s efforts to keep Douglas one of the safest cities in Georgia and answered questions from Rotarians and guests.
Also, at this meeting, Club Secretary Mark Miller announced an upcoming literacy project that will help fund the purchase of books for all kindergarten students in Coffee County. This will be a cooperative project with the South Georgia State College Book Chat Club and will feature Book Chat members and Rotarians reading to students and presenting them with a book to take home. The project follows a successful effort completed by SGSC students in Ware County last year.
The Club applauded the news that Zach Fussell, Loan Review Officer with Pineland Bank, is now President-Elect and will serve as club president beginning next July.
Douglas Rotary is a service organization seeking to advance the service ideals of Rotary International by investing time and resources in programs for children and youth, community development, disease prevention, family support, environmental health, and leadership development. Rotary meets on Thursdays from noon to 1 pm at the South Georgia State College Dining Hall in Douglas.
