The Coffee Lady Trojans kept their undefeated region record intact Thursday, defeating the Tift County Blue Devils 6-3 and 12-4 in Tifton.
Ella Edge led the way for Coffee, going 6-9 with four doubles and a home run (4) over the two games.
In game one, Tift carried a 2-1 lead into the sixth inning. At that point, the Lady Trojans decided enough was enough and scored five runs to take a 6-2 lead. Coffee scored those five runs on four hits, the biggest of which was a three-RBI double from Allie Pridgen.
Edge was 2-4, both of which were doubles, and a run. Jocelyn Fender was also 2-4 with a run. Pridgen scored twice.
Maggie Brown went the distance, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits. She struck out seven and walked one.
In game two, Edge’s hit parade continued. She was 4-5 with two doubles and a home run. Kanlee Douglas, who also pitched, was 3-3 with a walk. Together, the two of them accounted for seven of Coffee’s 10 hits.
The Lady Trojans scored three in the first; one each in the second, third, and fourth; two in the fifth; and four in the seventh.
Edge scored three runs while Fender and Kia Wilson scored twice.
Douglas gave up four runs (two earned) on four hits with four strikeouts to three walks.
The Lady Trojans are 7-2 overall and 5-0 against region foes. The two teams face off today in the third and final game of the season series at 3:30 at Faircloth Field.
