Frank Byrd, age 76, of Douglas, GA, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, GA following an extended illness. Mr. Byrd was born on September 24, 1949 to the late Frank Byrd Sr. and Kally Byrd.
Survivors include: two sons, Damon Byrd and David Brandon Byrd of Douglas, GA; one stepson, Tommy Royals of Douglas, GA; two sisters, Demitra Cunningham of Mississippi and Kitty Courson of Douglas, GA; one grandchild, Kaylei Chaney; one great grandchild, Grayson Arnold; former spouse, Debbie Byrd Bray of Douglas, GA; and three special family friends, Roy Swann, Pennie Francis, and Kris Parker. Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Guinn and Jacqueline Byrd, and one stepson, Robert Royals.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Sims Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 4:00 pm, at the chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Long officiating. The interment will follow the service at the Douglas City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Roy Swann, Steve Jowers, Josh Swann, Chad Proudfoot, David Youngblood, and Casey Merritt.
Honorary pallbearers will be First Transport Escorts.
