The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announces the promotion of James Feller Jr. to Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) of the GBI’s Region 14 Investigative Office in Kingsland. ASAC Feller will be responsible for assisting with supervising the staff assigned to the office, which serves seven counties in southeast Georgia.
“ASAC Feller has demonstrated exceptional professionalism, integrity, and leadership throughout his career with the GBI,” said GBI Director Chris Hosey. “This promotion reflects both his experience and the trust he has earned within the Investigative Division. I look forward to his continued impact in mentoring agents and advancing investigative operations.”
“ASAC Feller is a dedicated investigator and mentor who brings strong operational knowledge and a commitment to public service,” said Investigative Division Director Cynthia Adkins. “His experience in both general and drug enforcement investigations makes him well prepared to serve as Assistant Special Agent in Charge and support the GBI’s Region 14 team as they continue to deliver high-quality investigative services across southeast Georgia.”
ASAC Feller began his career in law enforcement in 2013 as a patrol officer with the Georgia Southern Police Department. He joined the GBI in November 2015 as a special agent assigned to the GBI’s Region 14 Investigative Office in Kingsland. At this office, ASAC Feller worked general investigations until 2023. In January 2023, ASAC Feller transferred to the GBI’s Southeastern Regional Drug Enforcement Office (SRDEO), where he worked drug enforcement investigations.
ASAC Feller is a Georgia P.O.S.T. Certified Instructor and Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Certified Instructor. He graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in May 2013.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is comprised of three primary divisions: the GBI Crime Laboratory, the Investigative Division, and the Georgia Crime Information Center. The GBI has over 900 employees and a current budget of $162.6 million.
