The two-time defending state champion CCA Lady Patriots made a statement on Tuesday in Chula against the 3A Tiftarea Lady Panthers in the season opener, winning 23-0 in three innings. CCA scored 12 in the first, three in the second, and eight in the third.
Brilynn Waldron, Mattie Lewis, and Arabelle Roberts each had three hits. Shanley Meeks and Emma Gourley had two hits each. Waldron drove in three while Klair Mercer and Roberts had three RBI. Gourley, Lewis, and Roberts scored three times.
Peighton Harper started and picked up the win with two innings of work. She struck out three, walked one, and didn’t allow a hit. Meeks threw a perfect final inning to give the Lady Patriots a three-inning combined no-hitter.
CCA hosts Fullington Academy in the home opener Friday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. The Lady Patriots are 1-0 on the 2026 season.
