It’s #1 v. #2 in the GCAA tournament finals today at Titans Arena in Macon when the South Georgia State College Hawks (#2) take on the Central Georgia Tech Titans (#1) for the conference championship and a trip to the NJCAA national tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas.
The Hawks earned their spot in the finals with an 82-78 win over the South Georgia Tech Jets in Macon on Friday night. SGSC had to come from behind in the second half to escape with the win. The Jets led by one at the half; the Hawks, however, outscored their opponents 43-38 in the second half to win by four.
Trey Callaway scored 24 points while Jeremy Anderson poured in 20. Reggie White (16) and Da’Avion Thomas (11) were the other Hawks in double digits. Anderson also grabbed 10 rebounds.
Central Georgia Tech couldn’t finish off Gordon in its semifinal showdown on Friday. Gordon took Central Georgia Tech to overtime. The Titans were able gain some momentum in the extra period and win 71-64.
The Hawks and the Titans take the court today at 4 p.m.
