For the second year in a row and the fourth time in six years, the South Georgia State College Hawks are Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association champions and are headed to the NJCAA national tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas. The Hawks defeated the Central Georgia Tech Titans 75-74 at Central Georgia Tech’s Titan Arena Saturday afternoon for the championship.
SGSC held a scant one-point lead at halftime, 34-33. Both teams scored 41 points in the second half. It was a tough, emotional, and hard-fought contest all afternoon long. The difference proved to be a Reggie White free throw late in the second period to put the Hawks up by one. The Titans had a chance to win it at the buzzer but the shot fell away.
White led SGSC in scoring with 18 points. Jeremy Anderson scored 17 and grabbed 12 boards. Chandler Thomas (12), Trey Callaway (10), and Aaron Jones (five) rounded out the scoring for the starters. Da’Avion Thomas scored six off the bench followed by Dominick Wright (four) and Matthew Roberts (three).
Anderson was named GCAA Tournament MVP while White was named to the All-Tournament team.
The Hawks will travel to Hutchinson later this week. Round one of the national tournament begins Saturday, March 21, 2026.
