City of Douglas to participate in National Night Out on August 1

The City of Douglas along with local public safety organizations and community partners invite everyone to join in the fun during National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Central Square Complex.
“We are happy to be hosting this national event,” says Police Chief Gary Casteloes. “Positive initiatives like National Night Out will allow public safety and the community to work together to create a more compassionate and secure community for everyone.”
The National Night Out Against Crime will also include the Summer Beach Bash which was postponed in June due to inclement weather. Activities will take place in the vacant lot next to City Hall. A free concert featuring gospel rapper "B-Shoc" will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Central Square Complex. Douglas Police Department will push initiative such as "Lights On, Means Lights Out For Crime" and provide National Child Identification kits. Attendees can register for drawings for a free tablet as well as a free pizza party for a Church youth group. Vendors, bouncy houses, waterslides, hula hoop contest, pony rides, music, and other summer activities for all to come out and enjoy!
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. Locally, our community partners include: Douglas Rotary Club, McRae Coca-Cola, Broadcast South, LLC, and the City of Douglas.
