The Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce Mrs. Carol Morgan will be the Parade Marshal for the 57th Annual Festival of Lights Christmas Parade. As Parade Marshal, Mrs. Morgan will lead the annual Christmas Parade on December 4, 2021.

“Carol Morgan continues to tell the history of our community. Because of her commitment to our community, the history of our community is preserved for future generations,” says Mayor Tony Paulk. “Our community is blessed to have a public servant of the caliber of Carol Morgan. Congratulations on your selection as the 2021 Festival of Lights Parade Grand Marshal.”

Mrs. Morgan is a retired educator of the Coffee County School System who dedicated 31 years of service to our community. She has one son, Scott, 3 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. She has served as the President of the Coffee County Historical Society for 7 years and currently manages the Heritage Station Museum for the City of Douglas. Kevin Elrod, Chamber Board Chairman shared, “Douglas and Coffee County are fortunate to have community members like Carol that continue to give back and make a difference in the lives of others.” He went on to say, “The Heritage Station Museum represents our community, our history, and is the home for significant remembrances of our past in Douglas and Coffee County.”

Carol is actively involved with the local Retired Educators and has served as President, Secretary and chaired several committees. One of those being the Brown Bag Project, which she currently serves as the Director. The Brown Bag Project committee prepares food for elementary children in Coffee and Atkinson counties for long holidays, serving approximately 870 students each holiday. Carol will also serve as the Area Director for Georgia Retired Educators beginning in the Spring of 2022.

The theme for the 2021 parade is “A Christmas to Remember.” On Saturday, December 4, festivities will begin at 6:00pm when the Annual Festival of Lights Parade will light up Peterson Avenue and make its way from the Courthouse to South Georgia State College.
