Jane Ashley Rowell of Douglas has been named a recipient of a Georgia Foundation for Agriculture (GFA) scholarship.
Rowell, who plans to attend the University of Georgia this fall and major in poultry science, is one of three students statewide selected to receive a $4,000 Scholarship for Agriculture awarded to a graduating high school senior.
Jane Ashley is a charter member of the Citizens Christian Academy FFA chapter, for which she served stints as both president and vice president. She earned the Star Greenhand Award, Chapter Scholarship Award, Discovery FFA Degree, Greenhand FFA Degree and Chapter FFA Degree.
Rowell also serves on the Coffee County Farm Bureau Junior Board of Directors, including a term as co-chair, and she is the 2023 CCA STAR Student.
The Georgia Foundation for Agriculture scholarships recognize deserving and outstanding students pursuing an agriculture or ag-related degree at an eligible technical college (such as welding, diesel mechanics, vet tech) or college in the University System of Georgia, Berry College or Emmanuel College. Instructions for applying for the 2024 GFA scholarships will be announced at www.gafoundationag.org/scholarships this fall.
