Last week, local law enforcement made six arrests for allegedly driving while intoxicated. Officers from the Douglas Police Department, Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, and Georgia State Patrol handled these cases.

These charges are allegations only and all individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty. Here are the arrests:

John Griffin Anderson, 17, of Douglas: Failure to stop at a stop sign and DUI – alcohol/controlled substance present in blood or urine.

Chrystal Garren, 43, of Douglas: Driving without license on person, failure to maintain lane, and DUI-alcohol.

Alex Mendez, 18, of Alma: Failure to obey traffic control devices, driving without a valid license, and DUI – alcohol/controlled substance present in blood or urine.

Dylan Lee Ragland, 27, of Douglas: Driving without license on person, headlight requirements, seatbelt violation, DUI-alcohol.

Thomas Kelly, 33, of Douglas: Failure to maintain lane, open container, DUI – driving under the influence of multiple substances.

Eizo Dimitri Tobler, 45, of Douglas: Speeding, driving while license suspended or revoked, and DUI -- alcohol/controlled substance present in blood or urine.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 31 percent of all traffic accidents in the United States involve drunk drivers. Impaired driving is responsible for an average of 10,850 fatalities nationwide each year. Every 39 minutes, a person is killed in a drunk driving accident in the U.S.
