A Douglas man is on the run after allegedly shooting a woman on South Manila Avenue Friday.
According to a release posted Tuesday morning on the Douglas Police Department’s Facebook page, officers responded to a home on South Manila Avenue on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, where a shooting had been reported.
When officers arrived, witnesses stated that Sammy Reed, 51, had forced his way into the home with a large caliber handgun and threatening to kill everyone inside. Reed found his estranged girlfriend in the house, Tamakie Moore, 40. She was in her bedroom asleep at the time. Reed allegedly grabbed Moore and dragged her out of the house and into a neighboring yard. As Moore struggled to get away, Reed allegedly shot her and fled the scene. EMTs transported her to Coffee Regional Medical Center. An Air-Evac helicopter transferred her to another location for further treatment.
Officers have obtained multiple felony warrants for the arrest of Sammy Reed. He remains on the run and has made threats toward others as a result of this incident. He’s also threatened to kill himself. Officers believe Reed still has at least one gun in his possession and should be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with any information that would assist in locating Sammy Reed is asked to contact the Douglas Police Dept. at 912-384-2222, the Tips Line 912-260-3600 or your local 911 center.
