On October 28, 2020, a Coffee County K-9 deputy conducted a traffic stop at Hwy 32 East and Legion Road for a broken windshield. A drug unit officer was in the area and had witnessed the driver of the vehicle make a drug transaction at a nearby carwash. The driver was identified as Joe Weathers. Weathers consented to a search of his person and as a result of that search a plastic bottle with suspected Alprazolam and Sublingual inside was seized. Deputies felt that Weathers may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and requested assistance from the Georgia State Patrol. It was determined that Weathers was driving under the influence. Weathers, 50, of Douglas, was taking into custody and transported to the Coffee County Jail. He is charged with drug not in original container, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, driver under the influence of drugs and windshield/window/wiper requirement. Weathers made his first bond appearance in Magistrate Court and was granted bond on the DUI and the windshield charge but the court denied bond on all other charges. He is currently incarcerated in the Coffee County Jail.

 

On November 4, 2020 a traffic stop was conducted by Nicholls PD and Coffee County Sheriff’s Office K-9 in Nicholls, Ga. The driver was identified as Crawford Haley Ellis, 53, of Douglas. Officers located over 100 tablets of Oxycodone Hydrochloride 15mg and 30mg, both Schedule II controlled substances. Also located inside of the vehicle was over $100,000 in cash and three firearms. Ellis was transported to the Coffee County Jail and charged with safety belt violation by the Nicholls PD.  Coffee County drug detectives charged Ellis with possession of a controlled substance with intent, drugs to be kept in original container and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Ellis made his first appearance bond in Magistrate Court and was granted bond by the Court.

 

On November 2, 2020 a traffic stop was conducted by Nicholls PD and Coffee County Sheriff’s Office drug detectives in Nicholls. The driver was identified as Shanazia Shazane Brock, 24, of Douglas. Officers located cocaine inside of the vehicle during the traffic stop. Nicholls PD issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle while license suspended. Coffee County drug detectives charged her with possession of cocaine.  Brock made her first appearance bond hearing in Magistrate Court and the Court granted bond on driving with a suspended license but denied bond on the possession charge. She is currently incarcerated in the Coffee County Jail.
