A search warrant served by Coffee County deputies on Friday morning resulted in the arrest of a 59-year-old Broxton man.

Over several weeks, the Coffee County Sheriff’s office received numerous tips from the community about illegal drug distribution. This information resulted in a search warrant being carried out on March 14, 2025. Detectives from the Coffee County Drug Unit executed the warrant near Joe Ellis Road in the Giffordville area.

As a result of the operation, deputies discovered a quantity of cocaine and arrested 59-year-old James Lee Gifford of Broxton of possession of cocaine.

Sheriff Fred Cole states that the ongoing efforts to eliminate drugs from the streets are greatly aided by community tips. The sheriff’s office’ commitment is to continue working daily to rid the community of drugs and warn that anyone involved in the production, sale, or purchase of drugs in Coffee County should expect jail time.
