Susie “Sue” Wiggins, age 94, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022. Mrs. Wiggins was born on May 12, 1928, in Telfair County, Georgia, to George Burkhalter and Amanda Roberson Burkhalter.

 

 

Sue was an active member at The Sanctuary Church for over three decades. Sue enjoyed fishing, cooking, and was especially famous for her pecan and peanut brittle. She was a retired seamstress, and operator of Elmo’s Bait and Tackle for many years.

 

 

Survivors include: Two Daughters: Elaine Peacock (Billy) of Douglas, GA and Tina Prescott (Mark) of Douglas, GA, Two Sons: Ronnie Wiggins (Gwen) of Douglas, GA and Stanley Wiggins (Jeannie) of Douglas, GA, Ten Grandchildren: Kelly Peacock, Michael Peacock, Scott Wiggins (Kelley), Brandi Carter (Dustin), Billy Jack Moxley (Kristy), Amy Lott, Ashley Wiggins, Brittany Lytle, Shanna Smith (Alex), and Lagen Smith. Eleven Great Grandchildren, Three Great-Great Grandchildren, and several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by Father: George Burkhalter, Mother: Amanda Roberson Burkhalter, Husband: Elmer Wiggins, Sister: Mary Lou Quinn and Daughter: Kathy Anderson.

 

 

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at The Sanctuary.

 

 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 11:00AM at The Sanctuary with Rev. Bob Powell officiating. Interment followed at the Douglas City Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Mark Prescott, Chance Wiggins, Jared Wiggins, Charles “Sambo” Boone, Kaleb McDonald and Billy Jack Moxley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Elmer Roberson, Jerry Bryant, Roger Law, Lamar Godwin, Josh Davis, Mike Davis, Randy Banks, Raymond Nipper, Tom Boone, Jim Boone, James Quinn, and The Morgan Family.

 

 

All flowers should be sent to the Sanctuary on Wednesday morning before the services.
