Kathryn Nell Key, age 87, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at her residence. Mrs. Key was born on November 9, 1932 in Douglas, Georgia the daughter of the late Ernest Christian Kitchens and Ruby Lee Kitchens.

 

Mrs. Key was a homemaker and a member of College Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Richard Key Sr, brother, Chris Kitchens and two sisters, Jean Russ and Joan Bates.

 

Survivors include daughter, Kara Beth Key of Douglas, GA; son, John Richard Key Jr (Lesha) of Douglas, GA; grandchildren, Adam Blair Key, Christopher John Key (Grace), Andrew Wayne Spires, Clay Austin Spires (Joanna), Kara LeAnna Spires; step-grandchildren, Timmy Moore, Lee Stone, Kenneth Stone; great grandchildren, Emma Key, Breanna Key, Paisley Spires, Braden Moore; step-great grandchildren, Mila Stone, Baileigh Stone; two sisters, Lawanda Pickett of Warner Robins, GA and Glenda Jones of Hawkinsville, GA; several nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 4:00pm at Douglas City Cemetery with Rev. Mark Mercer officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 2:30pm until 3:30pm at Sims Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Thomas Key, Raymond Pool, David Hersey, Walker Bennett, Cason Lott and Braden Moore.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Due to COVID-19, Sims Funeral Home Inc. will require all guests and attendees to wear appropriate medical grade face-masks and maintain social distancing at all times while visiting our facility, and highly encouraged at our services outside of our facility.  Masks are not provided.
