Eva Merritt Bowen, age 98, of Broxton, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Vista Park. Mrs. Bowen was born on December 18, 1922 in Coffee County, Georgia the daughter of the late William Daniel Merritt and Allie Lee Christopher Merritt.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband James "Jim" Bowen, children, Dan Bowen, Lucile Young, Harvey Bowen, two brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Bowen was a homemaker and a member of Broxton Church of God.

 

Survivors include her children, Marilyn Howard Robinson (Lowell Davis) of Ray City, GA, Larry Bowen (Carolyn) of McRae, GA, David Bowen (Terry) of Douglas, GA and Glenda Bowen Haygood (Michael) of Broxton, GA; brother, James Harvey Merritt (Bonnie) of Broxton, GA; 22 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 25 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends Friday evening, April 16, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Broxton Church of God with Rev. Joey Copeland and Rev. James Merritt officiating. Interment will follow at Reedy Branch Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Bowen, Brian Bowen, Carl Williams, Tony Williams, Michael Bowen, Matt Bowen, Chris Bowen, Tim Bowen, Brandon Haygood, David Bowen and Matthew Bowen.

 

Musical selections will be “Ten Thousand Years” by Barbara Bowen and congregational song “Amazing Grace” with David Bowen on piano.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
