Mr. Jerry Wayne Austin, age 57 of Douglas, passed away late Monday evening, April 19, 2021 at St. Vincent’s Riverside Center in Jacksonville, FL following an extended illness. Mr. Austin was born March 28, 1964 to the late Cliff Combes and the late Earline Harrell Combes.

Mr. Austin, a native of Salisbury, NC, was a mechanic at Anderson Buick GMC, Inc. here in Douglas.

Survivors include:

Sister: Diane Buris of Salisbury, NC

Brothers: Robert Dale Austin of Red Boiling Springs, TN
Gary Austin of Douglas, GA

Several other relatives also survive.

The graveside service and interment will be Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Harrell Grove Cemetery with Pastor Wendell Moseley officiating. Bro. Harold Ragsdale and Bro. Stan Hughes will each present a eulogy.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday evening, April 21, 2021, from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Ricketson Funeral Home.

Musical Selections for the service will be “Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High on that Mountain”.

Active pallbearers will be: Luke Anderson, Eddie Anderson, Johnny Parente, Shayne Belcher, Steve Jowers, Dustin Musgrove, James Barber, Matthew Austin, Lawton Thomas and Bryan Buris.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Austin’s memory to Ricketson Funeral Home in order to help with the funeral expense.

Due to COVID-19, attendees are asked to observe six foot social distancing at the visitation, graveside service and interment. Please wear your mask for safety precautions and in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
