May Bell Hatfield Smith, 85, of Tifton passed away Monday, May 3, 2021, at her residence. A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Smith on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Sims Funeral Home in Douglas. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Sims Funeral Home in Douglas from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Born March 15, 1936 in Coffee County, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late William Hatfield and Bernice Spivey Hatfield. She was also preceded in death by her husband, E. J. Smith; one daughter, Debby Smith; six brothers, C. J. Hester, C. T. Hester, Albert Hester, Roy Hatfield, Floyd Hatfield and Alfred Hatfield; and two sisters, Dollie Smith and Willie Mae Hester. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She loved watching westerns and fishing.


Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Tommy and Peggy Smith of Sumner and Robert Smith of Douglas; three daughter and two sons-in-law, Libby and Donny Robertson of Tifton, Marie and James Ray of Fitzgerald and Lisa Oliver of Douglas; a son-in-law, Fernando; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Lillie Mae and Fred Snelson of Metairie, Louisiana and Lillian Hamilton of Madison, Florida; twelve grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.


The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.

 

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. A.J. Hatfield officiating.

 

Memorialization is by cremation.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
