Talmadge Banks, age 93, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 in Douglas, Georgia. Mr. Banks was born on August 13, 1927 in Coffee County, Georgia the son of the late Oscar Preston & Mittie Ann Wheeler Banks.

 

Mr. Banks was a retired supervisor with Fleetwood Homes and was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Merritt, son-in-law, Dennis Wright and 9 brothers & sisters.

 

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Banks of Douglas, GA; 3 daughters, Linda Wright of Douglas, GA, Angie Merritt (Kenneth) of Douglas, GA and, Shirley Spivey (Jimmy Claude) of Douglas, GA; 7 grandchildren, Jonathan Wright (Shanlee) of Douglas, GA, Amie Fussell (Chad) of Douglas, GA; Christi Luke of Fitzgerald, GA, Clay Spivey (Melissa) of Douglas, GA; Erik Merritt (Nicole) of Douglas, GA, Grant Merritt (Blake Lee) of Douglas, GA and, Katie Butts (Josh) of Willacoochee, GA; 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

 

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, July 23, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home.

 

Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at Douglas City Cemetery with Rev. Mark Mercer and Rev. Jimm McMillian officiating. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Wright, Clay Spivey, Erik Merritt, Grant Merritt, Larry Wiggins, Chad Fussell and, Josh Butts.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
