Betty L. Burke, age 94, of Broxton, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Twin Oaks Convalescent Center in Alma, Georgia following an extended illness. Mrs. Burke was born on September 22, 1927, in Coral Gables, Florida, to the late Boyce Thurman and Lollie Mae Trayham Thurman.

 

Survivors include: Three Sons: George Burke Jr. (Teresa) of Wray, GA, Ted Burke (Elaine) of Pridgen, GA, Billy Joe Burke (Cindy) of Broxton, GA; Sister: Joyce Gillis of Douglas, GA; Brother: Bob Thurman of Swainsboro, GA; Grandchildren: Tracy Burke (Brandi) of Douglas, GA, Jason Burke (Joy) of Douglas, GA, Amber Bounds (Kevin) of Douglas, GA, Justin Burke (Kim) of Douglas, GA, Chris Burke (Laura) of Tifton, GA, Josh Burke (Rebecca) of Broxton, GA; Great Grandchildren: Kalie Torres (Adam), Rylee Burke, Jackson Bounds, Lila Bounds, Austin Burke, Nathan Wooten, Kolt Wooten, Bentley Burke, Jeremiah Burke, Aden Burke, Ava Claire Burke, and one Great-Great Grandchild: Beckham Torres. Mrs. Burke was preceded in death by her husband: George Horace Burke Sr., and her parents: Boyce Thurman and Lollie Mae Trayham Thurman.

 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 10:00AM to 11:00AM, at Broxton United Methodist Church.

 

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 11:00AM, at Broxton United Methodist Church, with Rev. Kevin Bounds officiating. Active Pallbearers will be: Tracy Burke, Jason Burke, Justin Burke, Chris Burke, Josh Burke, and Kevin Bounds.

 

The interment will follow at the Broxton City Cemetery.
