Nevin Swanson (800 meters) and the 4x200 relay team of Anthony Paulk, Tyrese Woodgett, Jaquan Harrison, and Travis Adams are Region 1-5A champions in their events.

 

 

The Trojans competed in the region track meet last Thursday at Greenbrier High School in Evans. The top four individuals or relay teams qualified for the state Sectional meet, which takes place on May 6 at Union Grove in McDonough.

 

 

Along with those mentioned above, the following athletes or relay teams qualified for Sectionals: Ja’Maria Harvey (400 meters), 2nd, 1:00:83; James Jarrard (110 hurdles), 2nd, 16:44; Kate Merritt (3200 meters), 11:51.47, 2nd; Tyrese Woodgett (100 meters), 2nd, 11.06; Anthony Paulk, Tyrese Woodgett, Jaquan Harrison, and Travis Adams (4x100 meters), 2nd, 42.96; Nevin Swanson (1600 meters), 3rd, 4:47.16; Lorenzo Harvey (shot put), 3rd, 43’ 4”; Kate Merritt (1600 meters), 3rd, 5:35.75; and Jamiah Hudson, Janiya Brown, Ivani Johnson, and Ja’Maria Harvey (4x200 meters), 4th, 1:53.88.

 

 

The following athletes or relay teams scored points at the region meet: Josie Lott, Alisson Rivas, Ainsley Myers, and Jade Hamilton (4x800 meters), 5th, 12:40.94; Will Bagwell (3200 meters), 5th, 10:32.98; Joshua Cribb, Landon Cliett, Nataniel Tapia, and Brian Stafford (4x800 meters), 5th, 10:15.80; Jeremiah Bazell (high jump), 5th, 5’; Jayden Hancock (triple jump), 5th, 40.4’ 4.25”; Breanna Griffin, Iyani Johnson, Janiya Brown, and Jamiah Hudson (4x100 meters), 6th, 52.03; Kate Merritt (800 meters), 6th, 2:39.13; Kahjere Smith (triple jump), 6th, 40’ 1”; Iyani Johnson (100 meters), 7th, 13.21; Landon Cliett (3200 meters), 8th, 12:34.25; and James Jarrard (300 hurdles), 8th, 47.89.

 

 

The women’s team finished the region meet in 6th place with 41 points while the men’s team came in 5th with 77 points.
