Lady Trojans split games with 7A opponents
The Lady Trojans split a pair of games with 2 7A opponents winning 5-0 at Tift and falling at home 7-5 to Camden.
The Camden game was cut short after 5 because of lightning but Hannah Capps had a huge day with 3 hits. Emily Robinson, Kaci Thacker, Imani Paulk, and Lacey Stone all added a hit for Coffee. "We got behind after a few blunders defensively and battled back. I felt good about our chances in the 6th but the weather didn’t cooperate. We have to handle our business on defense and not put our pitchers in bad situations," stated head coach Stan Hughes.
The Lady Trojans visited Tift and saw freshman Erin Robinson make her first varsity start in the circle for Coffee. Robinson struck out 13 Blue Devils and threw a complete game 2-hitter for her first varsity win. Hannah Capps and Emily Elisis paced the offense with a pair of hits each including 2 doubles by Capps. Elisis drove in 2 of Coffee's runs while Jenna Graham, Emily Robinson, Lacey Stone, and Kaci Thacker all chipped in with a hit.
"I thought Erin did an incredible job for us in the circle, we needed a good outing and got one from her. A big performance by a freshman on the road against a line-up that can swing it pretty well," stated Hughes.
