The CCA Lady Patriots rallied from five runs down to Echols County last Thursday to come back and win their season opener 17-7 in Statenville. Peighton Harper came in during the third inning and shut down Echols’s rally. That gave the Lady Patriots’ offense the opportunity it needed to go to work.

The Lady Patriots jumped out to a two-run lead in the top of the first. In the bottom of the second, Echols erupted for seven runs to take a 7-2 advantage. Harper took over and shut out Echols. CCA then started chipping away. The Lady Patriots scored one on the third, five in the fourth, one in the fifth, and four each in the sixth and seventh. When the dust finally settled, CCA came away with a 17-7 victory. They also outhit Echols 14-3. Both teams committed two errors.

Cadence Cravey led the way offensively for the Lady Patriots. She was 4-6 with two RBI and four runs scored. Emma Gourley was 3-4 with three runs and four RBI. Gracie Giddens and Harper also had two hits while Maci Rucker scored three runs.

CCA had two weekend games rained out. Their next game is scheduled for Monday, August 12 at Fullington Academy.
