For the third time since November and the second time this year, Kayla Danielle Gruber, 36, has been arrested and jailed for allegedly showing up on Lakeshore Drive and harassing her ex-husband.
The latest incident occurred around 8 p.m. on March 7, 2026. Officers from the Douglas Police Department responded to Lakeshore Drive in reference to a suspicious person. The responding officer went to the complainant’s home who reported a woman knocking on her door. The complainant spoke to the woman, identified as Gruber, through the door. After a brief exchange, Gruber walked off.
Another officer found Gruber on Lakeshore Drive. According to the incident report, Gruber wasn’t making any sense. She did mention that she had been shot with a BB gun. There was a spot on the back of her arm that looked like it could be a wound from a BB gun, according to the report.
The officers ran Gruber’s information through GCIC and saw her criminal history. That led them to her ex’s house, which is also on Lakeshore Drive. Gruber had been to her ex’s house and asked for money, the report says. Her ex didn’t give her anything so she allegedly kicked the door in, causing $500-700 in damage to the door. During the investigation, the report says that Gruber denied kicking the door. However, her ex had recorded her damaging the door, the report says.
Gruber was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property in the 2nd degree. She was booked into the Coffee County Jail and later released.
