For the second time in just over a month, a Jesup woman has been arrested and jailed as a result of a domestic-related incident.
A report from the Douglas Police Department states that on December 20, 2025, at around 5:30 p.m., officers went to a Lakeshore Drive address in reference to a domestic dispute in progress. When the officer arrived, the report says he saw a female in a red shirt run around the house. The complainant told the officers that the female, identified as Kayla Danielle Gruber, 36, of Jesup, ran off when she saw the police.
The complainant and Gruber had been married but were divorced. He said that she shows up at his house from time to time and exhibits “violent tendencies.” He is trying to get a restraining order against her, the report says.
In this latest incident, Gruber allegedly kicked in the front door, damaging it to the point that it wouldn’t shut and couldn’t be secured. The complainant also had videos showing Gruber in the front yard screaming and yelling obscenities at the complainant right before police arrived, the report says. The video also shows her run off when the officers showed up.
Another officer found Gruber walking on Lakeshore Drive and spoke with her. According to the report, she said that the complainant had brought her to his house in an attempt “to set her up.” She also said that he picked her up from Coffee Correctional Facility, according to the report. She also said that she didn’t remember what happened at the complainant’s house.
The complainant stated that he didn’t know how she got to his house. He added that he did pick her up from Coffee Correctional Facility one time but it was over a year ago.
Gruber did admit that she started running when the police arrived because a judge had told her not to be around her ex-husband. She later said that she had come to Douglas to see her kids for Christmas, according to the report.
Gruber was arrested and charged with criminal trespass and taken to the Coffee County Jail. She was booked into the jail and later released.
On November 12, 2025, Gruber was arrested after she allegedly stole a security camera from her ex’s house. She had been at the house the day before and allegedly taken the camera. She came back the next day but was arrested before she could get into the house. Gruber was charged with theft by taking and jailed. She was later released.
