The Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce proudly celebrated the ribbon cutting for Force Jiu-Jitsu on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at its downtown location at 334 S. Peterson Avenue in Douglas. The event saw a great turnout of community members, local leaders, and supporters who gathered to welcome this new family-focused martial arts academy to downtown Douglas. Guests enjoyed refreshments while touring the facility and meeting the Force Jiu-Jitsu team.
Force Jiu-Jitsu is a family-oriented Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy offering training for kids, teens, and adults. The academy focuses on real self-defense, confidence, fitness, and personal growth in a safe, structured environment. Programs include kids and teens Jiu-Jitsu, adult classes, beginner fundamentals, competition training, and private lessons.
Owner Wyatt Montgomery shared how Jiu-Jitsu transformed his life and inspired the creation of the academy. He explained that the discipline taught him confidence, humility, and how to handle pressure both on and off the mat, and that his goal is to provide a place where people of all ages can experience that same growth.
Force Jiu-Jitsu is a family-run business, with Montgomery’s wife, Twyla Toledo, playing a major role in helping operate and grow the kids and teens programs. The academy is supported by a dedicated coaching staff who care deeply about their students and the community.
The decision to locate downtown reflects Force Jiu-Jitsu’s commitment to investing back into Douglas. The academy aims to bring positive energy downtown, create a safe and welcoming space for families, and contribute to the growth of the city by building strong, disciplined, and confident individuals.
The ceremony included an invocation by Chris Watson of Gracepoint Church, followed by special remarks from Chad Guthrie, Jeff Hennessy, and Wynetta Bolder.
Force Jiu-Jitsu is open from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. For more information, contact Coach Wyatt at (912) 493-4782 or email forcejiujitsu@gmail.com.
