Keep Douglas Beautiful has received the prestigious 2025 Governor’s Circle Award for Outstanding Community Beautification and Environmental Sustainability Achievements. The Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation (KGBF) presented the award for exemplary performance in litter reduction, waste minimization, and community greening.
To qualify for the Governor’s Circle Award, affiliates must be certified and in good standing with Keep America Beautiful (KAB), the national nonprofit that oversees state and local programming. Additionally, the affiliate must be an active member of the KGBF network. Certified KAB affiliates must effect meaningful, positive, and lasting change by directly addressing community needs in litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, and beautification.
“We are honored to receive this recognition,” said Destiny Paulk, KDB Executive Director. “Our success is made possible through strong community partnerships and the dedication of our amazing volunteers. We are grateful for the continued support from our local government, civic organizations, businesses, volunteers, and community partners.”
Keep Douglas Beautiful organized a variety of cleanup initiatives, including Bring One for the Chipper, Clear Your Clutter, the Great American Cleanup, Tire Amnesty Week, Junk Free Week, and America Recycles Day. In July 2025, the Board held a retreat to focus on the upcoming year initiatives and events. The committee also took part in community events to promote awareness of their mission—focusing on recycling, beautification, and environmental stewardship—such as the participation in the Wings & Things Festival and Fly-In and the Gopher Tortoise Festival. More than 100 volunteers contributed their time throughout the year, representing civic groups like Ambitious Young Men, American Legion Post 515, CHS NJROTC, City of Douglas employees, Douglas-Coffee County Teen Court, Douglas Lions Club, the Douglas Mayor’s Youth Council, Douglas Masonic Lodge, along with many dedicated community members.
