Things didn’t start out well for the CCA Lady Patriots Wednesday at the ABAC gym in Tifton. The Lady Patriots faced the Robert Toombs Christian Academy Lady Crusaders in the Class A state semifinals.
At the half, the Lady Patriots trailed 24-10. However, the complexion of the game changed during the third quarter. Those eight minutes were among the best CCA has played all season long. When the final seconds ticked off of the third period, the Lady Patriots had narrowed the gap to three. It was a neck and neck fourth period that saw the game end in a tie. It took two overtimes to decide the contest but the Lady Patriots came away with a 71-68 win.
Arabelle Roberts poured in 41 points, 37 of which came in the second half. Abrah Harris scored 14, followed by Jayla Shrouder with 10, and Arlee Vickers with six.
CCA will play for a state championship at Columbus State University on Friday.
