Maggie Brown was one of two Lady Trojans with two hits against the Tift County Blue Devils Friday, going 2-3 in Coffee’s 9-0 win to complete the season sweep of Tift. She also threw a six-inning complete game shutout, allowing just four hits while striking out five with no walks in the run-rule shortened contest.
Coffee scored in every inning except the second, finally ending the game in the bottom of the sixth with a three-spot. Jocelyn Fender, who also homered in the game, doubled, scoring Hannah Carlon and Ella Edge to walk it off via run rule.
Fender was 2-4 with a double, a home run, three RBI, and a run scored. Edge drove in two. Edge and Ava Grace Rowell scored twice. Rylee Spivey, Kia Wilson (2), Rowell, and Edge also stole bases against the Blue Devils.
The Lady Trojans are 8-2 overall and 6-0 in region competition. Coffee plays another region series this week against the Houston County Bears. Houston comes to Faircloth Field Tuesday afternoon for a 6 p.m. showdown. Thursday, the two teams play a doubleheader at Houston beginning at 4 p.m.
