Mrs. Linda Lankford Maitland, age 76, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday morning, December 31, 2025.
Linda was born January 25, 1949, in Irwin County Georgia, to the late Calvin Lankford and the late Elizabeth Swilley Lankford. She was the office manager at Fabtec for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who enjoyed cooking, and found great joy in cross stitching and sewing. She was a member of the Willacoochee Baptist Church for 6 years as well as the Pearson Senior Center for a number of years.
Along with her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Ernest Maitland; a brother, Terrell Lankford; and 2 sisters, Annette Smith and Ione Ring.
Linda leaves behind her two devoted children: Angie Ragsdale and husband, Harold, of Douglas, Georgia, and Brian Phillips and wife, Tammy, of Broxton, Georgia; 4 grandchildren: Colt Jones, Cam Jones, Cody Phillips, and Colby Phillips; several great grandchildren; step children: Doug Maitland of Lax, Georgia, Amy Williamson of Lax, Georgia, and Steve Harrell of Douglas, Georgia; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Linda’s family will receive friends on Monday afternoon, January 5, 2026, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Lax Holiness Baptist Church. Her funeral will be held at 2:00 PM at Lax Holiness Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Lax Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include Colt Jones, Cam Jones, Colby Phillips, Cody Phillips, Cody Ragsdale and Tommy Jones. Honorary pallbearers will include Ann Davis, Kim Davis, Lorene Day, Amanda Lott, Tenzie Morris, Betty Lofton, Dawn Garcia, Gwen Wiley, Barbara Mathis, and Christy Spivey.
Linda’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Bethany Hospice for the kindness and care they showed to Linda and her family during her illness.
