Elaine Byrd Ellis, age 67, of Douglas, GA, passed away peacefully at Jeff Davis hospital in Hazlehurst, GA. She was born on August 26, 1958 the daughter of the late Mr. Quitman Byrd and the late Mrs. Catherine Byrd Anderson.
She was a homemaker most of her life. She loved her children and grandchildren. She was Apostolic Pentecostal in faith. Before her health declined, she enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Her survivors include: two sons, Randy Lee Ellis Jr. and Joshua Michael Ellis Sr.; one daughter, Amanda Ellis (Ashley) Tanner; three brothers, Allen (Diane) Byrd, James (Jimmy) Byrd, and Charles “Scooter” (Katrina) Anderson; seven grandchildren: Randy Leon (Alexis) Ellis, Gabriel Jowers, Ashton Tanner, Alaina Tanner, Joshua Ellis Jr., Bailey Ellis, and Gracie Ellis; one great-grandchild, Raelynn Ellis, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by: her beloved husband, Randy Lee Ellis Sr.; father, Quitman Byrd; mother, Catherine Byrd Anderson; one brother, David Byrd; and one sister, Diana Byrd Lamb.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, GA, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, GA, with Rev. Mark Wood officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Douglas Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include: Joshua Ellis Jr., Randy “Leon” Ellis, Casey Strom, Casey Tanner, Josh Ellis Sr., and Randy Lee Ellis Sr.
