Mrs. Maxine Evelyn Dockery Gregory, age 78, of West Green, Georgia, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026, at her residence following a sudden illness.
Maxine was born April 26, 1948, in Broxton, Georgia, to the late John Dockery and the late Eula Lee Dockery. She was a homemaker who loved the Lord and going to church. She was of the Baptist faith. Although she was never blessed with children of her own, she had a deep affection for children and was known to always keep a pocket full of candy for the kids. Not only did she enjoy sharing candy, but she was also known to love sweets herself, along with a good cold Sprite. Along with her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by three brothers: Harvey Dockery, Carley Dockery, Joe C. Dockery; and a sister, Mabel Jane Kersey.
Maxine leaves behind her devoted husband of 53 years, Jason Gregory of West Green, Georgia; a brother, J.W. Dockery of Broxton, Georgia; three sisters: Myrtle Carr of Jonesboro, Georgia, Harriet Wilkinson of Clarksville, Georgia, and Helen Taylor Jones of Douglas, Georgia; a brother-in-law, George Gregory of Jamestown, Georgia; two special cousin: Connie Davis and Bonnie Harrell, both of Douglas, Georgia; along with a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Maxine’s family will receive friends on Monday morning from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM in the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel. Her funeral will begin at 11:00 AM in Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Katherine Dennison officiating. Interment will follow in Burkett Cemetery.
