The City of Douglas proudly honored the exceptional achievements of the 2025-2026 Mayor’s Youth Council and Douglas–Coffee County Teen Court senior participants during a special recognition ceremony held at the C. E. Weir Center on Thursday, April 23, 2026. The council also honored several mentors at the banquet which included Chevelle Paulk (Community Spotlight of the Year), Mike Bazell (Founder, Ambitious Young Men) Tammy Wilkerson (Founder, Girls Exploring Movements of Success), Ian Sansot (Teen Court Judge), and Dinitra Carithers (Youth Council and Teen Court Coordinator).
The celebrations continued at Coffee High School’s Senior Honors Program on Monday, April 27, 2026, where Mayor’s Youth Council seniors earned an impressive array of academic awards, athletic honors, special distinctions, and an estimated $150,000 in scholarships, marking a record-setting year for the Mayor’s Youth Council. Each senior was also awarded community service cords for completing more than 200 hours of volunteer service.
“Every Youth Council class holds a special place in my heart,” said Mayor Tony Paulk. “These outstanding young leaders are an inspiration for our youth in the community. Their achievements, leadership, and hard work have opened doors to a future full of opportunities at Harvard University, Spelman College, Georgia Southern University, South Georgia State College, and Savannah State University. I couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve accomplished and what lies ahead for them.”
