Miriam Vickers Holland, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born on January 6, 1949, to Milton Vickers and Margaret Lott Vickers. She grew up in Ambrose, Georgia, and proudly called it home throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wallace Martin Holland, who passed away in 1990.
She leaves behind her loving daughter, Sallie Holland Graves, and her husband, John, along with her two grandsons, Ian and Cooper, all residing in Atlanta, Georgia.
A proud graduate of Coffee High School’s Class of 1966, she went on to attend the University of Georgia. Education and professional achievement were important parts of her life, and she dedicated much of her career to serving others through her work. She worked with the Coffee County Board of Education as both an educator and later an administrator. During her tenure, she implemented the county’s first Student Information System, helping bring new technology and innovation to the school system. She also held various positions in the corporate world throughout her career. Whatever role she held, she was passionate about her work and deeply valued the people she worked alongside.
A lifelong football fan, she remained devoted to her hometown team, the Coffee Trojans, and continued to tune in to Gene Wade’s broadcasts long after leaving Douglas. She was also an avid and enthusiastic Georgia Bulldog fan, faithfully following the team’s games and enjoying discussions with fellow fans. Her love for football was a constant throughout her life and a connection to the places and people she cherished.
Above all, she was a loyal and caring friend to many. Her friendships spanned generations and all walks of life. Although she moved away from Coffee County many years ago, she never lost her connection to the community or the friends who meant so much to her. She made a lasting impact on countless lives through her loyalty, her dedication, and the genuine care she showed for others. The relationships she built and the lives she touched will remain an enduring part of her legacy.
A memorial service to honor her life and contributions will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM at New Hope Baptist Church in Ambrose, Georgia. Rev. Paul Elliott and Rev. Derrick Smith will officiate the service. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church before the service.
The Coffee High School Class of 1966, her colleagues from the Coffee County Board of Education, and her bridge club will serve as honorary pallbearers.
