Mr. Printis “Wayne” Burkett, Sr., age 87, of West Green, Georgia, passed away Wednesday morning, April 8, 2026, following a period of declining health.
Wayne was born November 20, 1938, in West Green, Georgia, to the late Printis Burkett and the late Fannie Mae Burkett. He made his career as a self-employed truck driver and farmer. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Mollie Petty Burkett, for 66 years prior to her passing last year. He loved to eat, listen to and tell jokes, and sit around talking with his truck driving friends. He was a member of Burkett Baptist Church. Along with his wife and parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Samantha Lee Burkett, a brother, Glen Wyatt Burkett, and a niece, Tracy Lynn Kirkland.
Wayne is survived by two sons: Printis Burkett, Jr. of West Green, Georgia, and Wayde Burkett (Wanda) of Douglas, Georgia; two grandchildren: Marissa Deeann Shelton (Chris) of West Green, Georgia, and Loren Leeann Burkett (Rosa, Special Friend) of Douglas, Georgia; six great grandchildren; four foster great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Wayne’s funeral will be held on Friday morning, April 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Burkett Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Thomas and Rev. Casey Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Burkett Cemetery. Wayne’s family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM for one hour prior to the service at Burkett Baptist Church.
Active pallbearers will include Wyatt Burkett, Samantha Ann Shelton, Gregory Shelton, Brennan Hutto, John Smith, Bumper Barnes, Wade Burkett, and Printis Burkett. Honorary pallbearers will include Keith Burkett and Nickel Lott.
