Mr. Robert Bruce Garrett, age 81, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away Wednesday morning, May 20, 2026, at his daughter’s home following a recent decline in health.
Mr. Garrett was born May 5, 1945, in Bayonne, New Jersey, to the late Walter Garrett and the late Mabel Satger. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army where he dedicated six years to protecting our country. Following his time of service, he became a mechanic and a body man, lending his skills and love of fixing things to automotive and body shops in the South Georgia and North Florida area for many years. Mr. Garrett loved the outdoors and enjoyed activities that allowed him to spend time there including hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a dedicated man of God, and he loved his time serving the Lord in the churches where he worshipped.
Along with his parents, Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Marie Blackwell Garrett.
Mr. Garrett leaves behind three children: Mary Chris Rowe, and husband David, of Sanford, Florida, Lucinda “Cindy” Marie Smith, and husband Morgan, of Douglas, Georgia, and Rebecca “Becki” Bialy, and husband Scott, of Punta Gorda, Florida; four grandchildren: KC Beasley, Garrett Smith, Joseph Robert Rowe, Reagan Bialy; 2 great grandchildren: Brody Beasley and Ellie Kathren Beasley; along with a number of extended family members.
In accordance with Mr. Garrett’s wishes memorialization will be by cremation.
