The Salvation Army of Douglas is inviting the community to come together to help local children start the new school year prepared and confident through its annual Stuff the Bus School Supplies Drive, taking place now through Friday, July 17, 2026.
Community members are encouraged to donate new school supplies by dropping them off at The Salvation Army Thrift Store, 110 Gaskin Ave. S., Douglas, GA 31535, during regular business hours:
- Monday–Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
In addition to accepting donations at the store, The Salvation Army will also be collecting school supplies at the Douglas Walmart on:
- Friday, July 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Saturday, July 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Donors may choose whichever method is most convenient. Every backpack, notebook, folder, and box of crayons donated will go directly to local children and families in need.
The school supplies collected will be distributed during The Salvation Army’s Back to School Bash & School Supplies Giveaway on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 110 Gaskin Ave. S., Douglas, GA 31535. Families attending the event will also enjoy a fun, welcoming atmosphere as they prepare for the upcoming school year.
“We know that the cost of school supplies can place a real burden on many families,” said Jessie Copcutt, the new Director of The Salvation Army of Douglas. “Our goal is to make sure every child has the tools they need to begin the school year with confidence. We invite our community to partner with us by donating school supplies and helping make a difference in the lives of local students.”
Suggested donation items include:
- Backpacks
- 3-ring binders
- Pink erasers
- Kids’ scissors
- Glue sticks (4-pack)
- Pencil boxes
- Pencil pouches
- Rulers
- Hand sanitizer
- Disinfecting wipes
- Kleenex tissues
The Salvation Army encourages businesses, churches, civic organizations, and individuals to join this community-wide effort to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed in the classroom.
