The South Georgia State College Hawks went 1-1 at the annual B-Mac’s Christmas Classic tournament in Waycross. The Hawks fell to Santa Fe 77-68 on Friday but bounced back to defeat Motlow State Community College 94-84 on Saturday.
Friday, three Hawks posted double-digit scoring: Chandler Thomas (22), Jeremy Anderson (18), and Trey Callaway (11). Anderson also grabbed 10 rebounds. Overall, the Hawks were 2-12 from behind the arc and were 16-20 from the free throw line.
In Saturday’s contest, the Hawks led 43-40 at the half and outscored Motlow 51-44 in the second half. Thomas (20), Matthew Roberts (18), Da’Avion Thomas (18), Dawson Eaton (13), and Callaway (10) were all in double digits. Eaton scored his 13 points in 13 minutes. The Hawks shot 50 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range, and 71 percent from the free throw line.
The Hawks are 4-7 overall and have yet to play a conference game. The next face St. Petersburg College on December 19 at the Polk State Classic.
